Volunteer Opportunities

BrightHaven urgently needs volunteers. Due to the large number of animals and the small number of staff, our animals do not get enough day to day attention, play and grooming time. You can make a difference just by spending time with these lovely creatures. In return they will give you love and joy and even lower your blood pressure!

Volunteering at BrightHaven is an uplifting experience, rather than a depressing one. The animals live in a cage-free, clean and comfortable environment and are clearly well taken care of and loved. Even though most of them are elderly you will hardly notice their ages, that's how vibrant almost all of them look!

Our regular volunteer hours are Monday through Sunday,
9am to 5pm. These hours are extended for volunteers helping with feeding or stable work.

There are many different ways in which you can help:

• grooming, playing with and cuddling cats
  
• taking the dogs (and goat!) for walks
  
• grooming horses and other stable duties
  
• helping with feeding the cats and dogs in the morning and evenings (desperately needed!)
  
• cleaning out chicken, duck and goat houses
  
• medical work (vet techs are more than welcome!)
  
• helping with special projects, i.e. renovation of emergecy vehical interior
  
• shopping/running errands
  
• household chores such as scrubbing litterboxes, gardening, laundry, general cleaning, etc.
  
• fundraising activities such as distributing flyers/brochures, collecting donations from friends, family & collegues, organizing bake sales, fundraising dinners, donation boxes, etc.
  
• organizing items from our wish list
