Our primary function is the care and enhancement of the lives of senior and also special-needs animals. The term “special needs” can be applicable to disability, chronic illness or other physical or emotional problems. BrightHaven accepts cats, some small dogs, horses, fowl and occasionally other species for lifetime care.
Giving up your animal can often be avoided and we are happy to give consultations on health and behavior issues to try to salvage a family bond.
- Cats must be at least 16 years old. Dogs and other species will be evaluated.
- All cats accepted must have a current leukemia negative certificate (FIV- positive cats are welcome to apply)
- We do not vaccinate our animals and ask that you do not give any vaccines prior to arrival
- We need as much previous veterinary history as possible for our records, including a recent blood panel or health check for larger animals
