Dorothy
Dear Friends,
I am writing today with the sad news of the death of Dotty - the most special and adored old goat who could have ever lived! Dotty was originally found walking through a main street in Pinole, California in 2001 and rescued by a great BH friend, who brought her to BrightHaven after Dotty had nearly eaten all her parents' roses...
Dotty was around 2 years old at the time and so was approaching the grand age of 16 years when she simply lay down and died on Tuesday the 13th October.
Dotty was a ham and over the years touched the lives and hearts of many visitors, volunteers and Reiki students, and each will have a specially fond memory of feeding her roses or bananas or maybe being head butted, nuzzled or nibbled at, by her. She adored shoes too, playing with the horses and, well actually Vicki has long expressed the knowledge that Dotty actually believed herself to be a horse.
On Tuesday, Vicki went to see Dotty just after lunch and found her lying looking relaxed and peaceful in her bed only to realize she had left. Only an hour previously she had been just fine.....I guess it was her time and what a lovely way to bid life farewell...
Fare-thee-well dear Dorothy.
Soon, I will write a memorial for Dotty, which will be posted on our website. In the meantime, please light a candle for this beautiful soul and send loving thoughts, prayers and Reiki for her journey.
At BrightHaven, knowledge reduces fear. We believe that conscious decision-making can ease anxiety and reduce the burden of guilt so many pet parents carry.
