Jack
October the 6th 2016 heralded a new angel treading the path to the afterlife and marked the end of an era for BrightHaven as Jack left us to join the many animals he had known and loved (well some not so much perhaps!) during his six year reign.
Jack the lad, Jacky, Jackson, this vibrant redhead claimed many nam es, all of which suited this feisty and lovable troublemaker with so much to say for himself.
Teenager Jack arrived at BrightHaven in 2010, fresh from an animal shelter where he was deemed too old and ill to be adopted, despite his energetic, vibrant and outspoken self.
Upon arrival at BrightHaven Jack was introduced to our manager, Vicki. Each redhead saw a soul friend immediately in the other and became instantly inseparable, loving each other with an undeniable passion.
Volunteer June very quickly became adopted as his Auntie June and he was all set with his two lady loves by his side.
Over time Jack's fiery red mane dulled and paled to a golden hue, unlike his personality.
Jack and Vicki
He loved weekends when he stepped in to supervise Reiki seminars, often commandeering an unsuspecting student with whom to share the Reiki space of healing and light, all the while keeping an eye peeled for a stray cookie or cake...that might just fall from the table to his mouth.
Of course his bark was much worse than his bite and over time his noisy bossiness quieted much as he continued to dog Vicki's every footstep by day and also by night.
The last months saw Jack's bright light of life gradually fading as his tired old self began to look forward to the long rest ahead. He ate less and rested more day-by-day until Thursday evening at 10pm when, snuggled in his loved one's arms, he left our world.
Please join me in lighting a candle and sending our love and sympathy to Vicki as she sets aside space in her heart for Jack to dwell forever, and love and Reiki to dear Jackman as he journeys onward.
At BrightHaven, knowledge reduces fear. We believe that conscious decision-making can ease anxiety and reduce the burden of guilt so many pet parents carry.
